Ways to Spend a Weekend

It is supposed to be a nice weekend here in the Bay Area. One great way to spend a nice Spring weekend -visit your local resale shops, flea markets and shh..gasp, your local dumpster. Inspire a fun Saturday fix-it-up project by picking up a forgotten gem. Below are some incredible pieces reconstructed from salvaged throw aways (Living Etc). Have a happy weekend!

Enchanted Female

Charming Wall might be the most adorable website I have come across in quite a while. Thanks for the discovery! The site is full of many fabulous artists, especially this little lady from Brooklyn - Bailey Saliwanchik. Wispy, dreamy lines and beautifully striking colors - this is definitely her calling. She has been drawing since 18 months. Now that's dedication.

Indian Summer

6This blog remains one of my favorite go to site when I just want and need a little "worldly" inspiration. The colors, the designs - every image makes me ooh and ahhh. Takes you to a place far far away. Thank you An Indian Summer.Page_ju_interiors_seaside_25_02_080 Page_ju_living_bali_01_0706041630_i

Who Doesn't Love Deconstructed?

Il_430xn_24053893 I have been checking out Blue Butter Fly Art on Etsy for a while now and always find some great bohemian designs. This skirt in particular is adorable - part Vanderbilt 80s jeans, part vintage lace doilies and a little cotton gauze. It might be just a tad small for me but it would be so great to see some fun-loving, adorable little lady dancing in the park in this great piece.

Don't Mind If I Do

846To me, this photograph is a gentle reminder to just slow down for a while. Take a break, relax and enjoy the day. I think I will.

Summer Days

Img_3270_1664_generalNothing says "summer" more than a beautiful beaded necklace. This one, made in Guatemala, will hang beautifully on the neck. Small clustered glass beads dangle just so. Awesome with a simple cotton dress or tee. And its available at Candy Store SF.

No not me

LinziehunterYou would never see me with post it notes all over her room inked with quirky, optimistic little messages. You know those little notes reminding you that patience is the key to life - don't yell at the cat, try not to get upset when pushed aside on the MUNI, etc etc.  Oh no not me, not unless I could get someone like Linzie Hunter to design them with her fabulous illustrations, fun, bright colors and witty choice of words. I want this one painted on the front door of my house - BEWARE ALL WHO ENTER.

Etsy pulls through again!

LittlelegwarmersThese fun, patchwork pillows by Little Leg Warmers will look perfect in my new window nook in my new bedroom in my new home that I haven't found yet. Hey, a girl needs to hold onto something during the always dreaded San Francisco roommate search. Handmade from Amy Butler fabric scraps, Brooke Briette pulls together a beautiful assortment of colors with an adorable pink polka dot backing.

Save Saturday

Discardedcrop08Its time again for the auction and fashion show event called “Discarded to Divine” , benefiting the St. Vincent de Paul Society of San Francisco. Students from students from the Academy of Art University, Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM), and City College of San Francisco and other designers ( McClintock, Cari Borja, Verrieres & Sako, etc) will be creating garments and accessories from recycled materials. Money from the auctions helps the poor and homeless of San Francisco. I missed it last year because of a conflicting work schedule and sadly, will not be able attend this Saturday either. I heard it was an amazing event so run - go get a ticket and please let me know everything I miss. I'll be jealous but you still owe me one for taking the last JK Photography print!

It is also Mission Open Studios weekend and that I won't be missing. I am only offering one thing to get me back with, at least for today.

Saturday, April 26
Fashion Show & Auction  l  7pm

Book of choice

I received my copy of Bazaar Style a little while a go but haven't yet wrote about how amazing I find this little gem of a book. The colors are so fresh and vibrant! Perfect timing as in a few months I will be looking for a new home, hopefully with roommates who will be more than willing to entertain my obsessive desire to decorate. Decor 8 conducted a great interview with Selina Lake the designer behind Bazaar Style in January before the book was published. Go out a snag a copy and check out the interview too- lucky lady!
